By focusing on artisan empowerment, sustainable growth, and preservation of cultural heritage, this project envisions creating a thriving ecosystem that benefits artisans, preserves traditional crafts, and fosters economic and social development. Arts and crafts represent the cultures, traditions and social values of all nations and all civilizations. Indian handicraft industry is one of the oldest and largest industries in India. It provides employment for approximately 67,000 artisans and is one of the most important handicraft suppliers on the global market. The handwoven and garment industry has underpinned India's rural economy for decades. It is one of the largest sources of job creation after agriculture and provides an important livelihood for the country's rural and urban populations. The sector functions on a self-sustaining business model, with craftsmen often growing their own raw materials and is well known for being a pioneer of environment-friendly zero-waste practices. According to official estimates, India is home to 7 million artisans. However, data from unofficial sources indicates that the artisan strength is as high as 200 million. The wide nature of this range and disparity in the number is due to the informal and unorganised character of this sector. Handicrafts Sector India is home to >3,000 craft forms with artisans, spread across the country, working with papier-mâché in Jammu and Kashmir, thangka painting in Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh, phulkari and bagh textiles in Punjab, brassware in Haryana, basket-weaving in Uttaranchal, chikankari and zardozi work in Uttar Pradesh, blue pottery and block printing in Rajasthan, ajrak and kite making in Gujarat, gond painting in Madhya Pradesh, terracotta products and warli art in Maharashtra, crochet and lace work in Goa, sandalwood carving and banjara embroidery in Karnataka, vallam boat making in Kerala, thanjuvar kalamkari in Tamil Nadu, telia rumal and kondapalli toys in Andhra Pradesh, ikat work in Telangana, cane baskets in Nagaland, sikki grass products in Odisha, dhokra work in Jharkhand, kantha and patachitra crafts in West Bengal, madhubani paintings and mulberry silk products in Bihar, choktse tables in Sikkim, eri silk products in Assam and bamboo products in Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya. With this wide range of craft skills and the number of artisans in the country, India has the potential to transform the sector into a multi-billion dollar industry. Handicraft exports from India reached Rs 2,570.63 crore (US$3.5 billion) in 2019-20 1. Wooden products Rs. 3,061 crores (US$420.45 million) 2. Embroidery and crochet goods at Rs. 2,334 crores (US$320.51 million) 4,444 3. Other handicrafts at Rs. 17.68 million USD) 4. 1,128 kroner (154.96 million USD) hand-printed textiles and scarves 5. - Asheema Singh National Mission | Denzal Foundation
The Asheema Singh National Mission for Teachers and Teaching scheme aims to enhance education quality by empowering teachers. Launched by Denzal Foundation, it addresses teacher training, development, curriculum design, and pedagogy. Components include Centers of Excellence, Faculty Development, National Information Center, and Leadership Programs, fostering a holistic approach to education improvement. Top of Page Page Title Lists Our Story Asheema Singh National Mission on Teachers and Teaching Teachers are the backbone and core of the education system. Therefore, ensuring their availability and improving their quality, as well as the quality of teaching and learning, has become central to our policy discourse. Teacher education should be seen as a single continuum spanning schools to universities, and we need to think of ways to strengthen institutional mechanisms at all levels and sub-sectors so that there are vertical and horizontal linkages. The high societal demand for education has resulted in increased expansion of the country's education system both in school and higher education. There has been a rapid expansion in the number of schools, colleges and universities, resulting in a mismatch between demand and supply, as well as a quality deficit in terms of professional qualifications, professional development. The teacher security deficit model affects the system both quantitatively and qualitatively. The number of teachers needed at both school and university levels must double in the coming years. To this end, we must adopt a dual strategy of increasing the number of students in graduate and post graduate programs and expanding our research base. Currently, almost 40 percent of teaching positions are vacant at universities and colleges, for which teacher recruitment is to be carried out as a matter of priority. Given the increasing demand for quality education for a population as large as ours, it is important to develop less expensive and at the same time highly interactive pedagogical tools for communicating the basic principles of science. However, unlike school teachers, college science teachers in India do not receive any formal training in science teaching. They are experts in their own discipline, but may not be aware of best practices in pedagogy, lesson planning, and assessment of learning outcomes. They develop their own teaching methods, but sometimes their methods lack a formal structure. Due to the absence of formal teacher training, there is also currently no platform to bring teachers together and help them learn from each other. A grassroots peer-to-peer network will help motivate teachers to identify scalable pedagogical tools that can be deployed across the country, taking into account curriculum, classroom size, equipment availability, etc. Button Introduction The Asheema Singh National Mission for Teachers and Teaching scheme is the culmination of Denzal Foundation's efforts in launching a comprehensive umbrella scheme aimed at improving the quality of education at all levels by infusing quality and excellence in our teachers and teaching. Teachers are the backbone and core of the education system. With the rapid expansion n of the country's education system, both at the school and university levels, quality improvement has become a focus of educational development. Needless to say, teachers hold the key to the success of any endeavor in this direction. Attention should therefore be focused on teacher training and their working conditions in classrooms, schools and colleges, as well as their continuous professional development, which will ensure that the best talents in the country are available to shape future generations.
